I don’t have much to say right now, but I did get a MESSAGE FROM SPACE.
Best part is the TAG LINE…
Beware of space schooners.

Archaia Comics has partnered with Jim Henson Company to create a series of Fraggle Rock comic book. From what I can tell, these guys are very loyal “keepers of the flame.” Archaia takes its comics interpretations seriously, and is the home for David Peterson’s Mouse Guard. Fraggle Rock #1 will be in stores this April, and they just released the cover art. Pretty cool. It’s warm and recognizable, but it has a really nice modern edge to it.
The comic will be an anthology of different stand-alone stories, with a variety of artists. Contributors include Adrianne Ambrose, Heidi Arnhold, Jeffrey Brown, Ross Cambell, Katie Cook, Joanna Estep, Jake Forbes, Sam Humphries, Neil Kleid, Chris Lie, Jeremy Love, Grace Randolph, Jeff Stokley and Heather White.
I’d love to write a story for one of these issues… perhaps tying the narrative to the story of the film. We’ll see!

Until the new movie hits theaters, pretend this is the sequel: Red Riding Hood goes to Russia and does exactly the same stuff again… but in Russian.
Thanks to Peter Chattaway for this.

Check out my quote in Entertainment Weekly this week… I gave a bit of a soundbite to the magazine for a fascinating article, following the trail of futile attempts to bring the beloved quipster FLETCH back to the big screen. According to my interviewer, Hoodwinked’s Wolf is the closest thing to a Fletch character at the movies in two decades.
“My name is Shaw. Rick Shaw. I’m in from Japan.”

So weird and cool to see these. Since the movie is delayed, maybe the toys can tip you off to some secrets about the sequel…

Hear ye, hear ye…
If you’ve never gotten the chance to get the soundtrack from Hoodwinked, it is back for purchase on iTunes this week! I don’t know how or why… I’m assuming this means the executive producer and the record label made nice. I’m just happy to have the music out there again after years of absence.
Check out the musical stylings of Blick Van Glory‘s Todd Edwards, with special guest star Ben Folds!… and hear me live out my dreams as a rap star.

I’ve gotten lots of questions about “Hoodwinked Too: Hood Vs. Evil.” Everyone wants to know when it’s coming out, why it got moved from its original release date, what’s going on with toy tie-ins, etc. Here’s the short answer:
I don’t know.
No idea. The exec producers and Weinstein Company have not shared a whole lot about their game plan with me. I wrote the thing three years ago and that’s it. Another guy directed it, and I’ve only seen an early version of the film. I’m sure some of you have started seeing posters for the TOYS that are about to hit Burger King this month. Check it out! (thanks for the pic, Asa)
While seeing my characters as BK toys is crazy-cool, I found out about it the same time any of you did. I have not seen the toys themselves, but I can’t wait to go get some.
Yes, that’s right. I will have to go buy my own toys. That’s the world I live in.
So all I can tell you about H2 is to watch for trailers and commercials. I’ve heard rumors of February, and BK toys are a strong indicator that it will be out soon.

I know you want more info on the movie, but I can’t give you any yet. But things are happening. I am encouraged and excited by some new progress and hopefully I will be able to give you a big announcement here very soon. But that’s all I can say.
New Fraggle designs by Dr. Romanelli
Until there is more to say about the movie, I can at least report on the stranger-than-fiction clash of culture that I attended last night. Quite simply, it was a “Fraggle Rock Party” hosted by upscale fashion label Dr. Romanelli (I went to him last year when I threw my back out — he’s good). There was a DJ playing Fraggle jams, there were T-shirts that cost too much, and there was Fraggle-shaped jewelry. Oh the glamour! The stars! Kevin Sorbo! Jennifer Love Hewitt! Jamie Kennedy! Okay… that was about it. Unless you count RED FRAGGLE, who was really the chick everyone was there to see.
Can I tell you how surreal it is to see Red getting bathed in the flashbulbs of paparazzi? I think she was told they were fireflies or something. Red was escorted by her “handler,” Karen Prell. Karen’s enthusiasm for the character and the Fraggle Rock brand is instoppable, and it was good to see her again.
Hey Red, nice bling…
I’m shallow enough to tell you that I am ticked that I got no swag at all. Come on! How about a postcard? Some stickers! A Doozer stick!
The other part of the night that was fun was taking my three year-old son as my “plus one.” It’s his first industry party! I was so proud. And he stayed cool and kept to the three-juice minimum.
What does a glitzy event like this mean? That Fraggle mania is in the air, without even making a movie yet. All kinds of pop culture glow is around this brand right now, and this helps us push the feature, big time. I’ll wrap this up with some pics from the night…
Check out the Fraggle van. It’s like they’re a whimsical A-Team.
Look! Real snow! In Beverly Hills!

Me and my “plus one” hanging with Red.

Well it ain’t much, but it’s probably worth blogging about. The Fraggle Rock movie got a nice little write-up in this week’s Entertainment Weekly.
This just lets you all know that things are still happening, that I haven’t given up, and that “jiggery-pokery” is a new word to add to your vocabulary (in Mr. Collis’ defense, he IS British).

My next goal is to get those Fraggles in the center of their “Bullseye” on the last page. But to get that, I’ll probably have to make a MOVIE or something.
