Andrew Henry’s Story
I just realized that I failed to describe anything about the story of “Andrew Henry’s Meadow.”
I don’t want to give too much away. But it’s basically a modern fable about an isolated town called Catatonia, which is one big metaphor for America at its worst: spoon-fed drones that all dress alike, work in cubicles and raise their kids with television. As I mentioned before, this will be a highly stylized world, so “fable” is the best word I can use.
Our hero, Andrew Henry, is an inventive boy who thinks outside the box. He escapes the town to discover a beautiful, fantastic meadow beyond it. Other kids follow him, and build their own homes up in the trees. Eventually the kids must return to the town to save everyone from the monstrous company who controls it. The ending has a real action-packed climax.
That’s all I will tell you. Anything more will ruin the fun. But this should be enough to go on during the developments of the next several months.
The movie a HUGE leap away from the original book. Adam and Zach have used that story as the tip of a much bigger iceberg. It’s going to be a fun fantasy spin on our entire culture, with a great message. After this movie, kids may not believe all the hype of the next candy-flavored drink commercial they see. At least that’s the hope.

This really looks/sounds incredible.
Two quick questions:
Is the picture you included just to set the tone or is it from a concept in the movie? It’s incredibly cool…
And
When is the movie scheduled to actually be released?

I keep thinking of Lemony Snicket’s, a movie I really enjoyed. I also was thrilled with Tim Burton’s Willy Wonka. So, I think “AHM” is right up my alley.

Thanks for clearing that up. Here I thought the movie was about an intern at ILM named Andrew Henry, whose first job was to rotoscope out all of those gnats in the exciting “medow picnic” scene in Attack of the Clones. Whew.

There is no significant development art for the film yet. This was just a great image to give you the vibe I’m going for.
As for a release date, none yet. We have to get a green light to make it. After that, Fox may give us a finish line.

Hmm… I’m intrigued. Just out of cory-osity (sorry), is this a Film-film (i.e. cinema) or for some other medium?
Or maybe I’m just blind and didn’t pay attention.

This is a film-film, as you call it. A major theatrical release from 20th Century Fox.

So, a condemnation of the American system that will cause kids to think twice about candy-flavored soft drinks… please tell me there will be no promotional tie-in with McDonald’s/BK/Wendy’s.
I know, I know: not your area. Still, the situation is ripe for irony.

Oh yes, I am already aware of how slippery the slope will be… this will be a heavily marketed and merchandized movie if all goes well. So how do you justify that??
It’s like how George Lucas himself said he started out like the Rebel Alliance and now success has ultimately made him into the Empire.
My solution is to stamp all of the AHM product with the logo of the evil corporation from the movie, then put subversive stickers and secret stuff in the packaging, as if the young freedom fighters from the movie have done funny things to “liberate it.”
That’s having your cake and selling it too.
