The Starship Infomercial: A Blast From The Past

I thought this would be a good post to follow my last entry. Here’s an example of the wacky things I’ve ended up doing to crack the biz. Many years ago, I did a training video for a regional cable company. They wanted to go with a Star Trek theme, and I became their spokeman, Commander Quasar. YEAH. That’s me. Greg Leslie, an editor on the project, was delighted to send me this blast from the past (or is it… the FUTURE?).
This also proves that whatever you do in this line of work can pop up and haunt you again at any time. Beware.
Quasar OUT!

I think I smell a treatment for a Blick Van Glory video coming on…

You look so ‘at home’. And I’ve always wanted to say “on screen” like I bet you did that day.
I’ll say it, I’m jealous.

Come on, man… you gotta post the video now. It’ll just show up on YouTube soon anyway, might as well get it outa the way yourself…

LoL. Thats great. I wish every company would do their training videos that way.

I had a GREAT time editing this piece: digging up and animating backgrounds, playing with the classic Trek sound effects (adding that constant “ship drone” under the whole thing), then watching Cory just chew up the scenery… err, green screen.
Sadly, the video is no more, but it’s really a good thing — the content was VERY dry and full of big numbers and satellite channel package descriptions. Cory, you did what you could with it.
Any anecdotes about your stint as host of ESPN’s sports/reality show “K9 Nation”?

…Hmmm… Another thought… Perhaps Commander Quasar should have a cameo in “Escape From Planet Earth”…?
