Let the Meetings Play, Down at Fraggle Rock

Just a quick update: Still taking meetings with outside parties who may finance the film. These meetings usually involve people from Weinstein Company, Jim Henson Company, and my company, all sitting around a table big enough to play hockey on, at which point I pull out lots of artwork and talk my butt off for about twenty minutes while the smiling studio exec nods.

Just had another good meeting last Monday. Friends always ask, “How’d the meeting go?” Here’s the thing: they’re all good meetings. I take good meetings. It’s one of my strengths. Everyone is always ecstatic and laughs at my jokes and loves Fraggles and tells me I was born to make this movie and they’d love to be in business. But good meetings don’t really mean much. I know because I’ve had YEARS of “good meetings,” but I have yet to become Peter Jackson.

I’ve heard a little chit-chat online about Henson dragging their feet and holding up the movie. Let me be clear: Henson is not holding up the movie. They are “all systems go.” The holdup is financing and putting together studio partners in this economy.

Meanwhile, “Marmaduke: The Movie” is in production. Sigh.

However, while I am so very, very tired of the way this town does business, I remain optimistic. And I’ll let you know if I hear anything else.

I was afraid Wander McMooch had somehow swindled somebody to keep it from getting made! 😛

I patiently await the movie. It will, ahem, rock!

Well, hopefully you hear something soon. Glad you're keeping us informed! Fraggles seem to be in good hands with you. Here's hoping the rest of the hands that end up on the Fraggles work out… boy, that sounded wrong.

Anyhoodles… any chance of Dick Van Dyke playing Doc if Gerry Parkes is unavailable? 🙂

"The holdup is financing and putting together studio partners in this economy." In other words, if we have any rich readers here, in the words of Jerry Mcguire, "Show me the money!" If a rich Fraggle fan donated a ton of money to this thing, then maybe we might get somewhere a little faster… 😉

By the way, that last suggestion was brought to you by SPABCBCO(ACB)FDVDPOD Inc. LLC*, a devision of FunkyFraggle Inc. as formed by Luke and Super Scooter.

Updates are updates, whether they're news or just behind the scenes snippets of your day. All welcome! 😉

I'm sure your Fraggle meetings are some of the best of the day for these other guys. I've heard that being good at stand-up comedy is a huge advantage in industry meetings!

My "Fraggle Rockin'" CD just arrived in the mail today, so now it can tide me over between your blog posts. 😉

Sad to hear about the budget hold-ups; this probably happens with every film that isn't "toy tie-in with side of ADD explosions" anymore, though. Don't loose your optimism, though.

Let me guess – is this "chit-chat" about how Henson is all to blame coming from ToughPigs.Com? They're quick to blame the family for even the slightest misstep, and I find their defeatist/if-it's-not-from-my-childhood-it's-garbage attitude to be souring all of Muppet fandom. Don't listen to them or their cronies; they're the Ain't It Cool News of our circle, and we'd be better off without them.

Finally, "Marmaduke"? Really? Only if it's adapted from the Comics Curmudgeon take will this movie make any money.

Wow. Hoodwinked 2 comes out in January and there still isn't a trailer. Got any guesses as to when
    we might see one?
